Can I borrow a Cat?

Well, it's happened.
After living here almost 30 years with no problem like this, I think we are being visited by a rodent.
When I went to get a package of breakfast bars out of the "pantry closet",
the bottom of the box had obviously been chewed.
It's bad enough imagining what's in there (I haven't seen anything yet thankfully),
but what really creeps me out is that i cleaned that closet out about 2 weeks ago!
I really think I need to borrow a cat.

Kiki gave a good race report, but she forgot to mention a couple of interesting things. When we got to the race , we went inside the health center in search of a bathroom. There was a such a long line, we joined some other women in the much smaller line at the men's bathroom. After all, it was a women's only race :-)
The other thing she didn't mention was the 2 times I tripped. Luckily I caught myself before I actually fell.

Fun At the Lake

Shortly after I arrived at the cottage yesterday, as I was cleaning the remains of Jake's upset stomach out of the back of the highlander and the pups were racing around the yard, three young girls came by on bicycles with Lucky the Lab and another little yippy dog.
The two dogs came racing into our yard barking and of course the 3 pups were also barking. The girls stopped at the end of the driveway and attempted to call the 2 dogs, but they were all too involved to notice. I finally had to get the Dazer. The Lab and the yippy dog left pretty quickly. A great tool to have.

C and I walked down to the island yesterday to look at a new house they just built. Suprisingly, the doors were unlocked so we could take a tour.

I then went for a run/walk. I went down Seneca to P-50 and then was going to take P-50 back home.
After 1/2- 1 mile?, not sure how far, dodging traffic, I had doubts that I was going in the right direction. I called C and started to walk back to Seneca. He came to pick me up, which was lucky, since I was barely in the car when it started raining pretty heavily.

This morning when I took the pups out at 6:30, we saw 4 deer run across the road and into the woods.

I almost forgot, I bought a treadmill on Thursday. While the prospect of carting it in and out of the truck, carrying it upstairs and spending hours assembling it sounds like fun, I'm having it delivered and set up.

Boarding

While we we're enjoying our time in Europe, the dogs were enjoying their time at the doggy marriot.

Sylvania Veterinary Hospital

We picked up the pups from boarding on Friday.
Blue survived his first time boarding just fine.
Aussie and Jake are kenneled together, but Blue was on his own.
Blue got to go to the spa with it's underwater treadmill.
I'm sure he would have preferred to go to doggy day care, but I was afraid he would reinjure his leg jumping around.
They all got extra attention with their spruce ups.
It's always nice when they're able to be boarded there because when they come home, it's like they've never been gone.

On another note, the vet called when we were gone, and he received more results from Jake's thyroid test. Jake does have low thyroid, so he is now on medication.
Hopefully it'll give him more energy and help with his weight loss.

Chili's

Kiki writes that she splurged and had a cheeseburger and fries yesterday.
Well, usually sometime during the weekend we eat out.
I'm always very conservative and have a salad or something else low carb.
But, today we went to Chili's and you know how I love the chicken crispers!
Yes, that's what I had!
They were so yummy!!
I didn't eat the whole lunch, but I brought home a doggy bag and no, I didn't give it to the dogs.
I just finished the rest of it :-)
Luckily I did my run/walk this morning, but it's probably time to exercise again.

Old Lady Running

I think I may change my blog name to old lady.
I did my run/walk outdoors today and it was a lot harder than running inside.
Kiki is concerned about the upcoming days of more running, but if we run outdoors, I see her running rings around me :-)

We finally heard from the vet about Jake's thyroid test.
It came back normal, which is good, but that means he needs to eat less or get some excercise.
He's rather just sleep :-)

A Day at the Vet

After collecting "samples" in the dark this morning, it was time to take Aussie to the vet for her annual physical. I took her and left the other two at home whining. Her visit went okay..she's fine, except she has a fatty cyst on her tummy, and she's going back on clomicalm in preparation for her visit to the kennel. I brought her back home and took Blue for his vaccines. I brought Blue back and took Jake for a thyroid test. The test is to determine if his excess weight gain and general lethargy are do to a thyroid problem.
Aussie 49.5 lbs
Jake 54 lbs
Blue 81.40 lbs.
All in all, besides the expense, it took about 3 hours ..
and i wonder where the time goes :-)

I just talked to the female contingent living in that foreign country.
She's still sick, but Hedgie is feeling better.
She said "I want my mommy" and the birthday boy said, " don't worry, she'll be coming soon." :-)

The hometown team lost to Lakeland last night 75-73, during a televised game.
The score was tied till Lakeland made a basket and the hometown team got the ball with 2.5 seconds left on the clock.
They failed to score :-(

Today as I was out doing errands, I saw three distinctly different people in store parking lots. There was the young mother with her two young children dressed in pink, a nicely dressed grandmother with a small child and a scruffy looking bearded man and his small child, dressed in camouflage. The young mother was yelling at her two young daughters to stand still and wait for her, "or we'll just go back home", while she did whatever, and they were attempting to wander the parking lot. The grandmother was coming out of a store pushing a cart and the young child was lagging behind. The scruffy looking man had his son's hand firmly in his grip, even as the young boy attemted to run ahead. Appearances are deceiving.
